Dinghy ride to the ramp dock nearby. Short walk to the Fort entrance. $50.00 for two people kind of steep but when in Rome.

Loved the visit, great museum, musket demonstration franco English as the year of visit was 1759 before the English took the fort (Carillon) in August of 1759. Knowledgeable staff in costumes very beautiful day. Walk back and drove around the point. The Chute creek is not passable due to vegetation. Tomorrow we are planning an early start to beat the heat and walk two miles to town and access the trail to Mount Defiance. Hoping for an afternoon return for cooling toes in the lake.

June 25th

Early walk up Mount Defiance given warm day. View well worth the effort. Walk to town, picnic lunch at la chute Park and visited the museum that describes with maquettes and artifacts the industrial past of the town: many dams on the river to power mills, the main one until the 1970s was the International Paper Co and of course the graphite that went into the production of the Dixon Ticonderoga pencil. There is a natural food market in town and a nice hardware store. Walked back to the dock and swam to cool off, even the ice-cream didn't cool us that long.
