September 21st and 22nd,

Taking advantage of a nice weather, we opted to anchor near Jamestown, where we plan on enjoying walks for the next two days. Thursday afternoon, we walked to Fort Wetherill Park. No explanation about the fort but the vistas are wonderful and the graffitis on the remaining concrete ruins not as ugly as one would think, especially at the battery section. We walked to town and stopped for a refreshing seltzer water and bought a tart for a treat this evening at slice of haven. We are now resting on the boat, in a calm cove. It doesn't happen often and for long, so we are enjoying it.

Friday, septembre 22nd,

Packed a picnic lunch and walked the 2.6 miles to the beavertail state park. Beautiful weather and easy walk. From the lighthouse (can't go up, but still a great view), we could see block island and many sailboats on the Narragansett bay and beyond. We sat on the rock for a picnic admiring the waves crushing below.

By the 1pm or so we were back to the beach to get on our kayak, observing the rocking of our boat we realized that the windy conditions expected for the weekend were already causing where we were uncomfortable anchoring. Since we had already planned on being in Newport, we opted to go there now versus Saturday, as it was still mild and sunny.
