August 29th,

Arrived in New Bedford under cloudy conditions, but no wind or waves to speak of. A sailboat contacted us to take a picture of his boat, which we did. Ais is very useful:)

We moored at Pope's island marina, stretched our legs in town, and finished with a nice shower at the marina.

August 30th,

Moved to Fairhaven shipyard to have our port side propeller shaft inspected. Update will be posted later to share the diagnostic.

Also our starting on starboard engine is giving us concerns so we will have that added to the mechanic's checks.

Shaft alignment seems okay. There's a propeller issue, maybe. So we need to be hauled out. Didn't happen today, scheduled for Thursday morning. The starter problem was resolved. We have a new solenoid on our starboard starter and now we can start at a push of a switch again.

I went to pick our car rental at the local airport and got a gate card pass for the marina. We walked to the Phoenix fort park and treated ourselves to a restaurant for dinner.

We are staying on our boat tonight and we hope the diagnostic for the propeller is not too bad. In any case we are driving back home tomorrow for the Labor Day weekend. We will adjust our schedule also based on repairs, and the hurricane/weather conditions. We will keep you posted.

August 31st, update. The boat was hauled out this morning despite a strong north wind. The props may be an issue, if any thing a small one. The two props are sent to a prop shop and they will also check the alignment for the shafts. With the labor day weekend it probably won't be until next week that the work will be done. Let's hope that they don't find a major and expensive issue. Oh, also we discovered this morning that the generator was not getting enough water. So another problem that was resolved happily this morning with a new hose.

We are heading home, in our rental car and so far sunny weather, and pretty good traffic.:)
