August 6th,

Travel wirhout difficulties to Provincetown where we are moored.

In the early evening we kayak to town. It is a very lgbtq kind of main street feeling, plus a Jamaican celebration, plus a lovely weather strall on the pier. Like the place, with many typical cape cod homes full of charm.

August 7th,

Took the launch service at low tide so we walk the last yard to step onto the dock. We walk to the memorial tower to the pilgrims and decided to tackle the 116 step bright and early. The weather was grey but it was worth it, the view of the harbor and over the coast was real nice. After a picnic lunch, we found the museum really interesting. It focused on the construction of the tower and the history if the town. The Mayflower pilgrim landed first in Provincetown and stayed here 35 days before deciding to settle in Plymouth across the bay of Provincetown with more farming opportunities.

Afterward we walked over two miles to Race beach, and returned to town by bus:)). Well worth the 2 dollar fare per person. We arrived with the rain, and after getting to the boat, took the advice of the launch person and moved our boat to a more protected mooring. Tonight and all day tomorrow we are expecting strong winds. Time to relax and hope for some sleeping nonetheless.

August 8th,

Sleepless night mostly for me a bit better for Harvey. After breakfast around 8am we decided to go ashore for the day as the storm and strong winds meant a very unpleasant time on the boat. It was tough to get onto the launch boat but we made it. We walked on Commercial street and with the start of the rain we headed for the local public library. A very unusual church building converted with a half scale schooner in the middle. Happily we found a comfortable seating by a window, and saw and heard the storm go by. We are hoping for a late lunch nearby before more town walking and gallery hopping this afternoon.
