July 18th

We anchored near Sunset Beach in Noyack Bay. We took our kayak to the beach and from there walked to Sag Harbor. It's around half an hour each way. We had lunch at a Mexican place, a/c was welcomed as the humidity today is noticeable.

We walked around town following the historical guide we had received at the visitor center. Sag harbor was a wealthy port during the whale trade boom of the 19th century. Many homes reflect that wealth. Sag harbor is a better than we expected. Yes it is touristic but on a week day in July we found it busy but not as busy as we had heard. We stopped at a grocery store and had an ice cream before walking back to the kayak.

A bit tired, we rested on the boat.

This evening, as we were finishing dinner we noticed that our kayak was loose. Harvey and I released the sup and Harvey brought it back. Good thing we were outside when it happened. The current probably would have it pushed into the beach but still...

Hoping for a nice quiet evening, the haze from the wildfire is not as noticeable as yesterday.
