September 27th,

Arrived in Stonington early afternoon after a four hour ride from Newport. Wind and current at our tail, happily because the waves were around 4 feet.

We anchored in the designated area and dinghied to the public dock. We helpeda couple whose boat mast had dropped in the water, as they were attempting to fold it. The walk through town was quiet and beautiful 18th century homes line its street. We saw an old church converted into a home and the 1840 stone lighthouse. We bought gulf shrimp at the fishing pier as a self serve and self performed credit card transaction. People are really trusting around here. We returned to the boat, and we were rocked for two hours. As we finished our dinner and before it got dark, we decided to move the boat to a more protected mooring. It really helped and we were able to get some sleep. Weather is expected to hold for the next 24 hrs and then rain in the forecast for Friday and Saturday. This changes our stops and decided to forgo Fishers Island for the Connecticut River.
