We were roused out of our morning leisurely start by the lockmaster. When asked if we could defer he answered that it was now or noon...we speed up as you can guess. When we arrived in the lock we were handed lines by the lock employees...nice and easier than grabbing lines off the wall. We paid the employee also for a simple pass $1.50 a foot for all the locks of the Chambly Canal, and $1.00 a foot for staying at the dock overnight. It was a good thing as we arrived by noon in Chambly giving us plenty of time to enjoy the town. We were locked with a 37 ft sailboat, we felt tigth but it worked out fine. All the locks and swing bridges were coordinated so it made the 10 miles stretch go smoothly. The employees even called ahead and we secured a spot at the dock in Chambly before lock 3 with electricity.

We visited the Fort. Afterward we walk through the exhibition of old cars. Amazingly well maintained. We took a ride on the bike trail along the canal. The locks seemed so small from above!

We went grocery shopping at Maxi, very convenient. Today was the start of the Saturday concert and animation series at Chambly. We enjoyed a Cuban concert with dancers. The evening ended with us taking a walk along the shore of the Richelieu Basin.. and washing the dishes.
