July 15th

This morning, first thing we headed to the public and free pumpout station in Riverhead. Harvey replaced our macerator pump and added a switch. We then headed to Greenport. The bays are beautiful on a sunny day. We are anchored in Pipes Cove for 2 nights. We swam off the swim platform. It is very nice here, busy but not as much as we have experienced in the Barnegat Bay. Tonight and tomorrow are expected stormy and we are planning for a dinghy ride to town. There are attractions in town and hoping it won't be raining all day. These 50 to 60 percent chance of rain can be sunny, cloudy or pouring rain in reality.

July 16th,

What a drenching. After some engine work by Harvey, we took the dinghy to town. When we arrived we were nicely offered a ride to downtown at her favorite café. It was so nice. The café was the perfect 1st stop as the rain had started. We knew but were hoping for not a constant heavy rain all day. But this is what we got. We went to the boat supply store, and many other shops including a nice bookstore. We ended up at the East End Seaport museum, which is also very nice and free.

We walked to the local grocery store during a calmer rain period, but as we left, the sky opened on us and our two paper grocery bags were ready to dissolved. We dropped to the railway museum, to dry up a minute. Eventhough it was closing, the gentleman told us to take a seat and wait a bit. We ended up leaving anyway and we got soaked all the way back to our dinghy.

We enjoyed the town anyway, and are the only one at anchor tonight in the cove. Tomorrow the ☀ is back.
