July 13th,

Went through the lock, at slack around 1 pm. We had called the day ahead and were informed to come after 1:30 pm. Since we were a bit early, we called again to be told that we better come now as the gates would be closing behind us. A bit confused with the timing directions of the lock master, but went through without a problem.

The bay on the other side is large and easy to navigate, until you get to Flander bay where the markers and the chart indicate that you better do a bunch of zigzags or else. We made it through wirhout hitting any shallows to the riverhead river and up to the city dock, which Harvey had reserved after several calls to the city office. You know the kind of phone call when you have to guess which number option to select? He made it, and it is a great deal for a really great location by a park. We will tell you how quiet it is tomorrow with an update.

We walked along the river walk to a very neat sculpture park. We went to a local beer pub for happy hour, something we hadn't done in a while. Given the humid heat, a cold half price beer was welcomed.

After dîner on the top deck we went for a stoll. Too bad there isn't a 50 amp power at the dock, or the option for a double 30 amp, we had to run our generator to cook.

As the evening progressed wind and cooler temperatures made these hours quite comfortable. We are planning on another through the sculpture park to view it with lights.
