October 5th,

Nice anchor, 1 mile away from the harbor proper, but the best we could do given the mooring field taking the entire area by the harbor.

We walked up the the Field Arboretum, park, garden, greenhouse and an exceptional mansion built in 1921 by the Coes in the Tudor revival style. When the weather is perfect for it, you just take the 45 minutes walk to it each way, well worth it.

October 6th,

Grey sky and rain in the forecast on and off all day, expected it, but we had gotten used to warm sunny weather. Oh well

We went to the laundromat and had lunch at a nice Mexican place...no rain great

We dropped the laundry on the dinghy and walk to visit the museum. Wonderful place with its original colonial architecture and added Victorian extension. The museum with its miniature diorama was so interesting with the stories that go with them. The battle of long Island, the patriots, the spy for the republic, the tragic slave that was traded many times and separated from her son...we didn't see the time going.

It was time to walk up the Stop and Shop however, as it wasn't raining. We shopped and upon walking back to town, we were prevented to walk on the only straight street by a major police operation: no road traffic, our pedestrian in both directions!

The only option was to walk up hill, and around with our grocery bags. .. We were lucky to find a nice lady in her car exiting cvs, with whom in exchange for directions(thanks Google maps), she drove us back to the marina where our dinghy was. Thanks to her kindness, we saved an hour of walking. The evening was still nice and we were even able to cook on the outside grill.
